What are the benefits of

acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe treatment and can be used to complement western medicine, holistic health therapies and a good lifestyle.

Acupuncture is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal injury & pain conditions including back pain, neck pain, knee pain and headaches. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidance Network (SIGN) recommends acupuncture specifically for lower back pain (read more here). Acupuncture is thought to reduce pain by promoting the secretion of pain-relieving endorphins as well as reducing inflammation and promoting blood flow.

Pain Conditions

Acupuncture can support women at all stages of their life by promoting overall well-being and supporting hormonal balance. This includes fertility support, menstrual symptoms, menopause, pregnancy support and gynaecological disorders including endometriosis. To find out more, click here.

General Wellbeing

As a holistic treatment which aims to balance the whole body, acupuncture can be a helpful tool to promote general well-being. Patients often report feeling very calm and relaxed during and after treatment. Current evidence suggests that acupuncture may improve Generalised Anxiety Disorders (GAD), depression and mental health. The exact mechanisms are still not known but research indicates, through stimulation of the nervous system, acupuncture may influence the stress response in the body and regulate the neurotransmitters and hormones associated mood and emotion.
